Hi Paul, Didn't know the best place to do this, but wanted to let you and the other folks using the Top News Tag that we've stopped sharing to it and to other tags. Our goal was to have us create as a group a co-curated headline list on our front p…

This just in: It's hot out. Seriously, though, it's not all that often Western Washington/Greater Seattle sees temperatures in the high 90's, much less the low 100's. We've got a page together on PNWLocalNews.com where we're aggregating headlines in…

I put out a call on Twitter today, asking if anyone was using a Publish 2 tag or Twitter hashtag to track the King County Executive race. I haven't gotten any responses back yet, which I'm taking as a collective "no" (unless anyone here cares to pip…

For those who haven't seen it, Scott Karp of Publish 2 published a list of best practices for his product ... I think we're already using most of these.

We launched our aggregate page today for the July I-90 bridge closures. If you've got your own page up, please share it (I'd love to link to it). If you're curious about how to help aggregate links and information, see here.

With Westbound I-90 repairs and closures creeping up, I thought it would be a good idea to start organizing for aggregate coverage now (for those of you interested). I'll definitely be aggregating coverage somewhere and I'd like to push out a couple…

Are we talking strictly within the Seattle city limits, or does this encompass the outlying areas/suburbs, too? Obviously I don't think we'd be "Top Newsing" a cat fashion show on the Eastside, but if we get massive flooding in Kitsap, a shooting in…

Hi Paul, The tag I'm most interested in is the TopNews tag. This tag would be used to identify stories that would work well on the front page of ANY publication in the region. If we could create a great TopNews feed that did only have news that wou…

Spinning out of last week's chat is an index of the standard and customized tags we'll be using on Publish 2 for the #wanews project (or are we now just calling that News Collaboration?). As the doc says, if you've got a suggestion for a new tag, g…

I know this post has only been up for a couple days, but given the lack of objection I've received for the date/time of the chat, I'm just going to go ahead with it. I'll post what we finalize in another post that we can maybe feature or laminate or…

Sounds good, but I'll likely have to come into it a little late. I've got an earlier meeting.

I'll pass this on to Michelle and see if she can make it to the conference call. This is exciting, guys! Can't wait to see it get started.

Works for me, though I'll have to duck out if it's still going at 1:30. I would suggest a separate "green" tag, cause environment could cover stuff like parks and salmon and dams, etc., but green would be specifically stories about green topics. Jus…

I think it's about time we put the "which tags do we use?" discussion to bed. I'd like to tentatively set a date for a live chat (as previously discussed) for next Thursday (May 28) at 1 p.m. (I'll set up a Cover It Live chat if not too many people…

Publish2 hasn't exposed the JSON option in the site's UI yet but getting at it is not hard, go to a page of results and add ".json" to the end like so: http://www.publish2.com/newsgroups/northwest-news/schools.json

New Publish 2 tools on Western Washington heat page

This just in: It's hot out. Seriously, though, it's not all that often Western Washington/Greater Seattle sees temperatures in the high 90's, much less the low 100's. We've got a page together on PNWLocalNews.com where we're aggregating headlines in Publish 2 with seascorcher (same thing on Twitter). We're also aggregating and curating Tweets (under the same tag) using the new… Continue

New tag for King County Executive race (?)

I put out a call on Twitter today, asking if anyone was using a Publish 2 tag or Twitter hashtag to track the King County Executive race. I haven't gotten any responses back yet, which I'm taking as a collective "no" (unless anyone here cares to pipe up).

Assuming that remains the case, I'm going to start tagging stories with the following tags:

Twitter: #KingCoExec
Publish2: kingcoexec (I feel like my one mistake from the I-90 bridge tag was that I should have made it one word and thus less c… Continue

I-90 construction and closures—Twitter and Publish 2 tags

With Westbound I-90 repairs and closures creeping up, I thought it would be a good idea to start organizing for aggregate coverage now (for those of you interested). I'll definitely be aggregating coverage somewhere and I'd like to push out a couple tags now so we're all ready on July 5:

Twitter: #I90bridge
Publish 2: I-90 bridge

Note/Update: If you're tagging stories in Publish 2,… Continue
